Privacy Policy

Last updated October 19, 2026

Recollect ("we", "us") is a personal memory assistant operated from Pennsylvania, USA. This policy explains what information Recollect collects, why, and the choices you have. Recollect is built to keep your memories private: we do not sell your personal information and we do not use your content for advertising.

Information you give us

  • Account details: your name, email address, profile photo and sign-in information.
  • Memories and notes: text you type, voice recordings you make, and the transcripts created from them.
  • People: names, relationships, birthdays and details you add about people in your life.
  • Documents: images of documents you choose to scan (for example a passport) so we can read expiration dates and create reminders.
  • Places: addresses and places you save, such as Home.

Voice notes

When you record, Recollect uses your microphone only while you are recording. The audio is sent to our transcription provider to turn it into text, and the text is saved as a memory in your account. We use automated tools to suggest a title, category, dates and people mentioned; you can review and edit these before saving.

Google services (Calendar, Photos, Contacts)

Connecting Google is optional. If you connect, you choose which permissions to grant, and Recollect uses them only to provide features you see in the app:

  • Google Calendar: to show your upcoming events beside your memories, send reminders you ask for, and create calendar reminders or events from a memory when you request it.
  • Google Photos: to let you pick photos to import, tag and link to your memories.
  • Google Contacts: to import and keep your People list up to date.

Recollect's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, we do not sell it, we do not allow humans to read it except with your permission, for security, or to comply with law, and we do not use it to train general-purpose AI models. You can disconnect Google at any time in Settings, or revoke access from your Google Account.

Location

Location is optional. If you allow it, Recollect uses your device location to tell you when you are near a saved place connected to your memories or reminders, and to share your location with people you choose for a time you set. On the phone app, Pro members can turn on background location so these reminders work while the app is closed. Comparing your location against your saved places happens on your device. Addresses you type are looked up with OpenStreetMap's geocoding service to find their coordinates. You can turn location off at any time in your device settings.

Notifications and email

If you opt in, we send push notifications and emails (such as birthday reminders) based on the preferences you choose. You can change or turn these off in Notification settings.

Payments

Paid plans are processed by Stripe. We receive your plan, billing status and limited payment details (such as card brand and last four digits); we never see or store your full card number.

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run Recollect, and only as needed to provide it:

  • Hosting, database and storage providers
  • AI providers that transcribe voice notes, read scanned documents and organize memories
  • Stripe, for payments
  • Email and push notification delivery services
  • Google, when you connect your Google account

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Keeping and deleting your data

You choose how long Recollect keeps your memories in Privacy settings, from 7 days up to 10 years. You can export your data (JSON or CSV) or delete your account at any time from Settings. When you delete your account, we delete your content from our active systems.

Children

Recollect is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information. Most of this can be done directly in the app; for anything else, contact us.

Changes and contact

We will update this page if our practices change and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email. Questions? Email help@leveragedonewright.com.
