Your life, remembered.
Recollect FAQ
Straight answers about privacy, your records, how AI is used, and the seven-day Pro trial.
Privacy
Who can see what I save?
Your records belong to your account and are not public. Recollect staff do not read your memories, photos or transcripts except to provide the service, with your permission, for security, or to comply with law. Service providers (such as transcription) process information only as needed to run Recollect.
Does Recollect sell my personal information?
No. Recollect does not sell personal information and does not use your content for advertising. The Privacy Policy lists the limited cases where information may be shared, such as legal requirements or safety.
What do the Google connections actually access?
Connections are optional and you choose them during onboarding. Calendar permissions support event sync and requested reminders. Photos lets you pick pictures to import. Contacts keeps your People list up to date. You can disconnect Google in Settings at any time, or revoke access from your Google Account — disconnecting deletes the Google-sourced data Recollect stored.
Can I turn off location and notifications?
Yes. Both are optional. Background place reminders require the Pro plan, the phone app, and your location permission — and they can be turned off whenever you like. No plan guarantees reminder delivery; devices and connection settings matter too.
Your data, yours
Who owns my memories?
You do. Everything you save — notes, transcripts, people details, reminders, imported photos — belongs to you. Recollect stores it so the app can work for you; it does not claim ownership of your content.
Can I take my data with me?
Yes. Privacy settings let you export your records as JSON or CSV, and you can export your People list. Exports are plain files you keep, on any plan.
Can I delete things permanently?
Yes. You can delete individual memories, clear Google-sourced data while keeping the rest, set a retention period so old records are removed automatically, or delete your account entirely. Permanent deletions ask for a typed confirmation because they cannot be undone.
What happens if I delete my account?
Your memories, people, reminders, imported photos and connected Google data are permanently deleted. See the Privacy Policy for the full description of what is removed and what limited records may be kept for legal or billing reasons.
How AI is used
Where does AI help in Recollect?
OpenAI transcribes recorded audio through Lovable’s AI service so voice notes become text. Recollect saves the text you choose to keep, not the audio recording. AI tools also help organize memories, read documents you scan, suggest memories when you import a ChatGPT or Claude conversation, and answer questions in Ask your vault. Suggestions can be wrong — you review and confirm before anything is saved.
Does Ask your vault invent answers?
No. Answers are built from your own saved memories. When Recollect answers, it shows the sources — links to the memories the answer came from, with the exact wording quoted. When your saved information does not answer the question, Recollect says so plainly instead of guessing.
Is my content used to train AI models?
No. Your memories are not used to train general-purpose AI models, and Google data you connect is not used for model training.
What happens when I import a ChatGPT or Claude conversation?
Your export file is parsed on your device, so you can preview and select conversations before sending anything. Only the conversations you choose are sent for extraction, and nothing is saved until you review the suggested memories and confirm. There is no ongoing connection to those accounts.
Plans and the trial
What happens after the 7-day Pro trial ends?
Your account continues on the Free plan unless you choose a paid plan — nothing is charged and no payment details were taken to start. On Free you keep your memories, people and reminders, and you can keep searching, asking questions and exporting your records. Pro-only features pause until you upgrade: voice notes with transcription, Google Calendar sync, push reminders, photos and document scanning, Contacts import, and background place reminders. Nothing you saved during the trial is deleted.
Do I need a credit card to try Recollect?
No. Signing up requires no payment details. Every new account starts with a 7-day Pro trial, then continues on Free unless you choose to upgrade.
What do the plans cost and what are the limits?
The pricing page lists Free, Recollect Plus and Recollect Pro with prices, memory and question limits, and which features each plan includes — all read live from the same settings that govern accounts, so it matches what you get.
Can I cancel a paid plan?
Yes. You can manage or cancel your subscription from your billing settings at any time. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you paid for, then continue on Free — your saved records stay.
